Unique Treatment for the LGBTQ+ Community
Pride Institute offers inclusive and accepting recovery programs for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Pride first opened in 1986 and has since gone on to be one of the leading providers in the area of residential and outpatient program treatment for substance use and addiction needs of the LGBTQ+ population.
While each client’s recovery program is tailored to their individual journey, all programming at Pride is specifically developed for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Staff members are embracing, supportive and inclusive.
Non-LGBTQ+ specific substance use treatment facilities may be uninformed about LGBTQ+ issues or hold the outdated belief that homosexuality causes substance use or can be changed by therapy. In addition to treatment staff, other clients may have negative attitudes toward LGBTQ+ clients. These issues can become barriers in successful treatment experiences for the LGBTQ+ individual seeking those services. That’s not the case at Pride Institute. Here, we nurture personal growth, resiliency and overall wellness for members of the LGBTQ+ family. That understanding and community-driven ethos has helped us build a strong network of Pride Institute Alumni who’ve helped and encouraged each other during and after treatment.
Pride Institute is committed to providing LGBTQ+ people a safe place for recovery through evidence-based treatment for substance abuse, sexual health and mental health. Explore the site to take a tour of our main campus and learn more about our staff.
TRAVELING FOR TREATMENT
Leaving your hometown for Pride Institute may feel overwhelming. But for many of our long-distance alumni, the temporary move was exactly what they needed to focus on recovery. Whatever your situation, Pride Institute offers a secure and supportive place to gain the tools you’ll need to be successful in recovery wherever you chose to live. We have alumni who end up moving to Minnesota permanently because of our strong LGBTQ+ recovery community, while others venture back home equipped with strong continuing-care plans that help them succeed. Both options are valuable but depend on what works best for you. To connect with our alumni, read more about our robust Alumni Association.
