Located in Fort Lauderdale Hospital, our program offers the following options:

Our program specializes in chemical dependency treatment including Alcohol, Crystal Meth (methamphetamine), other Recreational and Prescribed drugs, as well as Mental Health issues such as Depression, Anxiety and Sex Addiction.

Approaching ten years of active treatment of the south Florida Community the PRIDE Institute at Fort Lauderdale Hospital has a demonstrated track record of success in dealing with addiction and psychiatric problems. Treatment is directed by the attending physician who works in close collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide a holistic approach with attention to the specifics related to the GLBT community.

Treatment is provided on a dedicated unit that strives to promote a feeling of safe secure inclusion. Many of our graduates continue to participate in the program by giving back through sharing their stories with newcomers. Many alumni serve as leaders in the local GLBT community. Former clients have served as Co Chair of Florida Roundup, started sober softball league, initiated first local Crystal Meth Anonymous meetings (CMA), assumed leadership roles in spiritual community and several have returned as employees of the PRIDE Institute.

In-Patient Treatment

Clients’ days are spent attending a variety of group therapy sessions, including Recovery Education, Relapse Prevention and GLBT Issues and Human Sexuality. Our program also includes special tracks dealing with Crystal Meth and Sex Addiction. Treatment is provided in a milieu that is highly affirmative to the community. The milieu operates on a 12-step cognitive therapy base and provides education on disease process and treatment interventions. In addition, the program offers didactic sessions on the history of the community, the effects of heterosexism and homophobia, issues related to HIV status and supportive resources within the community. Through the various group sessions, clients will gain new insights and skills that support their recovery. When deemed appropriate, clients are taken off-site to local GLBT 12-step meeting and other community events.

Intensive Out-Patient Treatment

The Intensive Out-Patient program provides chemical dependency and mental health treatment. This is often an appropriate “step-down” program from our in-patient treatment, but is also appropriate for people who do not require the intensity of residential treatment. The program is based on the Matrix Model used for treatment of Crystal Meth addiction.

PRIDE has established linkage with Lambda South and Florida Roundup to ensure a smooth transition to ongoing community-based recovery, and offers opportunities for affirming spirituality in the recovery process.
