Millwood Hospital, a 120-bed licensed facility, and The Excel Center provide mental health and chemical dependency care. Since 1971, people of all ages have relied on Millwood's extensive and confidential services to help overcome emotional and chemical dependency problems.
Inpatient Treatment
The inpatient program offers round-the-clock psychiatric and behavioral healthcare. PRIDE Institute, TX is dedicated to the care of the LGBT community and offers a safe, comfortable environment for clients to address their mental health and chemical dependency issues. Our interdisciplinary treatment team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, medical doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, chemical dependency counselors, mental health therapists and support staff.
Clients’ days are spent attending a variety of group therapy sessions, including Recovery Education, Relapse Prevention and GLBT Issues and Human Sexuality. Our program also includes special tracks dealing with Crystal Meth and Sex Addiction. Through the various group sessions, clients will gain new insights and skills that support their recovery. When deemed appropriate, clients are taken off-site to local GLBT 12-step meeting and other community events.
Partial Hospitalization Treatment
The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) consists of psychiatric and behavioral healthcare offered as a treatment alternative allowing the individual to return home in the evenings. Also used as a “step-down” from an inpatient stay.
Intensive Out-Patient Treatment
The Intensive Out-Patient program provides less intensive psychiatric and behavioral healthcare offered in the afternoon. This is often an appropriate “step-down” program from our in-patient or PHP treatment, but is also appropriate for people who require a less intensive option for care.
Sober Living / Transitional Housing
Sober Living/Transitional Housing is offered for recovering gay men needing minimal structure in a longer-term living environment in conjunction with Oxford Houses, Inc., Pride-Oxford House and Richland Manor.
Payment Options
PRIDE Institute, Texas accepts a variety of private insurances, self-pay and Medicare.
Our Admissions staff will gladly explore all of your options with you and/or your family. It is our goal to make treatment at PRIDE Institute as readily available to as many LGBT clients as we can.

From I-30:
- Take the Cooper Street or the Lamar/Cooper Street exit and drive south.
- The first light you come to is Road to Six Flags just south of the interstate.
- Proceed through that light and continue south around a few curves in the road, about one mile.
- You'll pass an elementary school on the right, some apartments on the left and just before you get to the next traffic signal, you'll see our one-story red-brick hospital on the east side of the street
Traveling to Dallas/Fort Worth
For those traveling from out of town, Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW) can be reached by all major airlines. An average fare to Arlington (depending on where you are traveling from) costs between $250-$400.
