PRISM Recovery Coaching
PRISM Recovery Coaching
PRISM Recovery Coaching (PRC) is a 3-month renewable program providing ongoing support in a participant’s recovery process. PRC has two levels of programming including an Intensive Program and a Basic Program. The therapeutic goal is to maintain the continuum of care in a step-down approach (Starting with Residential, Intensive Outpatient, Mental Health Services, Coaching Support, Peer Support).
The Intensive Program is the most concentrated program that integrates mental health care with coaching support. It is designed to provide a breadth and depth of continuing care with mental health, psychiatric, peer and coaching support. The Intensive Program is designed to be short-term leading to a step-down to the Basic Program. Usually clients would be in the Intensive Program for about 3-6 months, depending on need.
When appropriate, clients can also start in the Basic Program. The Basic Program reflects the benefits of telephone-based post-treatment monitoring and supporting continued recovery as participation in traditional aftercare groups. Brief (15-30 minute), but sustained, telephone monitoring following primary treatment has been shown in other studies to increase abstinence rates, reduce heavy drinking (by as much as 50%), postpone and shorten relapse episodes, reduce emergency room visits, and reduce the need for further primary treatments.
One of the goals is to help the client create an integrated circle of recovery support and integrate the principles and practices of a program of recovery into daily living. Through consistent contact, Recovery Coaches assist clients in the process of integrating the essential changes to support long-term recovery and help clients make the decisions to enhance their recovery programs.
The PRC program is person-centered, encouraging family and other critical individuals participation in a recovery process that is collaborative, culturally responsive, and consistent. Recovery coaching includes on-going education and training.

Application Process
To gain entrance into the program, a client expresses interest either through their counselor or contacts the PRC Coordinator (Weston Edwards, 612 825-8714). An individualized recovery plan is formulated based upon the work accomplished and knowledge gained during treatment to prepare for the transition back to day-to-day life. Concurrently, time is spent educating the support network on how to support the client’s recovery.
Which Coach do I select?
PRISM Recovery Coaches are Licensed Mental Health Professionals with expertise in mental health and substance use disorders. Recovery Coaches build a supportive relationship with the client and promotes the client’s follow-through with the recovery plan.
Coaches are selected based on the client’s primary interests, and a client’s connection with the Coaches. In the Intensive program, the individual therapist and coach are the same individual providing a continuity of care for the client. Additional information will be given to you in that initial meeting.
