Community Relations Team

Christa Spielman

Community Relations Representative

Christa Spielman came to Pride Institute as a community relations representative in 2017. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, they earned their bachelor of science degree in chemical dependency and community psychology from St. Cloud State University. Spielman also holds a master of arts in educational leadership and policy from the University of Utah.

Spielman has served in the areas of women’s resources, gender studies and LGBTQ+ student services, as well as diversity and inclusion. They have also been an instructor for cognitive and learning sciences.

Spielman’s degree in chemical dependency and their passion for LGBTQ activism, social justice and gender studies led them to Pride Institute. Their favorite part of the job is the opportunity to increase the awareness of Pride and the hope and healing it offers to the LGBTQ community. Spielman loves the people they work with and helping to make a difference in the lives of members of their community.

In their free time, Spielman loves going to the dog park with their two rescue pitbulls, music, photography, reading, vegan and vegetarian cuisine.

Angi Grassley

Community Relations Director

Starting at Pride in 2010, Angi Grassley is currently a community relations director. She was born in Urbandale, Iowa and received her bachelor of science degree in human services from Metropolitan State University.

Grassley discovered Pride Institute through a friend and instantly connected with the community. As a part of the recovery community since 2007, and also the LGBTQ+ community, it was a natural fit.

She is passionate about being a part the patients’ recovery journey and seeing them transition into the best version of themselves. She continually feels rejuvenated by her work and loves talking with professionals who have sent their clients to Pride. Seeing former patients in the community going to school or working in the mental health field is also very gratifying.

In her free time you can catch Grassley running, watching the Minnesota Lynx win championships, woodworking and spending time with her two kids and her pets.
