Equine Therapy

Start Your Recovery Journey

The decision to seek treatment is a big step,
but you don’t have to do it alone.

Equine or horse assisted therapy is a holistic recovery modality that offers a break from the typical treatment setting. The interaction between therapy animals and clients while undergoing addiction treatment can transform the therapeutic experience by bringing a sense of purpose while the client is in a residential treatment setting. Upon implementing off site equine therapy we have seen rapport between clients and staff improve, anxiety in clients reduce, and the odds of successful recovery increase. By including animal assisted therapy to evidence-based practices in our program, we are able to offer a more comprehensive and positive experience in addiction recovery. We provide a weekly opportunity for clients to travel off site with a licensed counselor and attend equine therapy sessions.

Learning how to use animals as a calming mechanism is just one of the holistic methods, we offer at Pride Institute.
