LGBTQ+ Intensive Outpatient Program

Start Your Recovery Journey

The decision to seek treatment is a big step,
but you don’t have to do it alone.

The LGBTQ+ community faces unique challenges regarding addiction and mental health, and some treatment methods or approaches just may not resonate well enough. At times they can even feel invalidating. It is important to make sure your treatment aligns with your individual needs so that you are able to get the most out of the experience and be receptive to the treatment.

Pride Institute offers acceptance, understanding, and inclusivity to all who come through our doors. Our LGBTQ+ intensive outpatient program (IOP) is designed to provide you with a flexible treatment option that fits into your life, allowing you to meet your responsibilities and obligations while still getting the help you need. Reach out to us today for more information about your treatment options for LGBTQ by calling 952.934.7554 or filling out our online form.

What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An intensive outpatient program is a structured addiction or mental health therapy course for individuals who don’t require medical detoxification or residential treatment. Meetings take place multiple times a week, and are based around the schedule of the person experiencing addiction.

If you have a work obligation, school, or family to take care of, you can continue handling your responsibilities while getting the help and support that you need.

Benefits of an IOP

Individuals who qualify for an intensive outpatient program find it beneficial to their recovery for many reasons. Some of the advantages of this level of care include the following:

  • Affordability – An IOP typically costs less than other treatment options.
  • Your privacy is protected – Shame, embarrassment, and stigma around “going to rehab” often keep people from getting the help they need, but an IOP is discreet and allows you to move at your own pace.
  • Become a part of the recovery community – Meet people who understand what you’re going through because they’ve faced similar challenges, and work together to keep each other accountable and on the right track.
  • Maintain obligations – An IOP allows you to heal without taking time away from work, school, or family responsibilities.
  • You won’t have to leave your loved ones – in addition to being able to maintain your family responsibilities you have access to a support network outside of the program made up of family and friends.

If you feel an LGBTQ+-focused intensive outpatient program could benefit your recovery or the recovery of someone close to you, reach out to Pride today at 952.934.7554.

What to Expect in Our Intensive Outpatient Programs in Minneapolis

IOP is often a step-down program following participation in the residential program at Pride or another program. Programming is offered multiple times throughout the day to fit the lives of each client. This allows them to work, care for families, attend school, or manage other responsibilities in their lives.

While participating in the program, clients work with our counseling staff in group and individual settings. Groups focus on processing and psycho-education, and the curriculum is presented on a new recovery topic each week. Clients are also expected to attend a minimum of two weekly recovery meetings while engaged in treatment.

Clients are allowed to maintain prescribed medication while in IOP and are encouraged to continue therapy sessions with outside professionals. Mood-altering chemicals cannot be used while clients are involved in IOP. This includes substance use on and off the Pride Institute premises and on days that clients do not attend programming.

New Track: High Intensity Outpatient

What is High Intensity Outpatient Programming?

Pride Institute’s High Intensity Outpatient Programming is designed for patients who require more support than three hours per day of Outpatient services to maintain their recovery, but with less structure than 24-hour care. The program meets 20 hours per week, four days per week, to address recovery needs at our Outpatient treatment facility. We help our patients to overcome obstacles in recovery, gain new, healthy coping skills to address life stressors and achieve individual treatment goals.

The program meets at our Outpatient facility on Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis.

High Intensity Outpatient programming provides an appropriate degree of care and comfort with the ability to test out new behaviors in the community setting, as well as the ability to practice the coping skills gained in an environment that is not controlled or supervised. By alternating time spent with loved ones and time in treatment, our clients receive a greater degree of autonomy and normalcy. We also work with community professionals, including physicians, therapists, halfway houses and sober living options to ensure appropriate aftercare.

Sober Housing Scholarships

To reduce barriers to accessing our program, we provide scholarship housing at no cost to you while attending our IOP program. Sober residences are in the Uptown Minneapolis area close to our IOP location. Scholarships are given based on availability and individual need.
