LGBTQ+ Alumnx Program

Start Your Recovery Journey

The decision to seek treatment is a big step,
but you don’t have to do it alone.

alumnx of an lgbtq addiction treatment program meet to show each other support and care

In recovery, few things are as crucial as the sober community you discover along the way. At Pride Institute, one of our greatest resources and our greatest treasure is our community of alumnx. Staying connected to a recovery-focused social group is a vital component of any LGBTQ+ addiction recovery program.

In our LGBTQ+ addiction alumnx program, we provide space for a variety of events and activities that support and nurture a sober community for people in every stage of recovery. For those looking for an addiction alumnx program in Minneapolis that is by and for the LGBTQ+ community, our program is here for you. Why Staying Connected with LGBTQ+ Addiction Recovery Alumnx Programs Is Vital

Staying plugged into a sober community is one of the most important decisions you can make to help support your own recovery, no matter who you are or how you identify. For people who are members of the LGBTQ+ community, though, sober spaces are especially important. Many LGBTQ+ spaces are places that serve alcohol or may not provide a recovery-focused environment. This can create a barrier for people who are committed to maintaining their recovery but rely on these spaces to feel connected to people with similar experiences. This is why recovery communities that are by and for LGBTQ+ people are so important.

The Facts About Recovery Maintenance and Community

It can take a lot to maintain your recovery, as any of our alumnx could tell you. Connecting with a community of others in recovery can help you live the life you’ve worked so hard to achieve. People in recovery who have a strong support network of friends, loved ones, and mentors set themselves up for the best outcomes. Part of doing that is surrounding yourself with people who understand how important your recovery is and who will help you to safeguard it.

Participate in the Alumnx Speaker Series

Hearing about the recovery journey of others can be a source of inspiration and clarity for others, so we are always excited when our alumnx want to come and share stories about their journey. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in speaking. We do have certain guidelines that apply to all speakers:

  • Have a minimum of three months post-program and one year of sobriety
  • Arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled speaking time
  • Refrain from the use of foul language and profanity
  • Dress neatly
  • Silence phones; no recordings or photos are allowed under any circumstances
  • Smoke only in the designated areas (e-cigarettes must stay in your car or at home)
  • Refrain from the outside promotion of businesses, websites, blogs, or schools
  • Refrain from the use of statistics
  • Refrain from sharing graphic details of your addictions (may act as a trigger for listeners)
  • Respect patient/client anonymity
